Books:
“How to Be an Anti-Racist” by Ibram X. Kendi
“We Want to Do More than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom” by Bettina Love
“Unapologetic: A Black, Queer, and Feminist Mandate for Radical Movements” by Charlene Carruthers
“The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness" Michelle Alexander
“Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinsky
Thank you! I've been looking for more resources to bring to my middle school team as we incorporate abolitionist teaching.
"Stamped" is really great.
I loved Between The World and Me. Made me cry.
An educator friend of mine just recommended Jason Reynold's "Stamped." (It is a remix of Ibram X. Kendi's "Stamped from the Beginning," but for middle/high school students--also good for teachers who have a shelf full of books to get to.)
