As a U.S. history teacher, I am constantly looking for ways to include the narratives of all Americans in my classroom. One resource that has been instrumental to my teaching is The Zinn Education Project, which has a wealth of teaching materials and lesson plans that strive to achieve the goal of telling the real history of the United States. The Zinn Education Project utilizes the work of late historian Howard Zinn and his groundbreaking book, "A People's History of the United States."
I have used materials and lesson plans from the Zinn Education Project at both the middle school and high school level and students always walk away with a deeper understanding of our nation's history (and have fun while doing it!).
What resources do you use in your classroom to make sure that more narratives are being shared?
