Being Biracial in School

Updated: Aug 6, 2020

Being biracial can put an individual in an extraordinarily difficult position which can become even more untenable when their are additional intersectionality issues involved. Wyatt Du-Bose Carlson has a story to tell that only he can. His voice is important to hear about how he had to manage being both black and white but not really accepted by either. "Too white for the black students and too black for the white students." The issues of being transgender, biracial and queer in both Chicago and later in Elmhurst as well as all of those "normal" problems faced by youth as they grow up have given him a a unique and important perspective on the world. That he is, at the young age of 20, an entrepreneur starting his own business is an inspiration.
